Global wildfire activity has experienced a dramatic surge since 2017. From Chile to Indonesia, unprecedented fire behavior has occurred in many areas worldwide including, but not limited to, Portugal, Siberia, Australia, the Amazon and Orinoco basins, and the Western US. This surge in global wildfire activity has led to a dramatic raise in human fatalities, and in socio-economic and ecological losses.
